Hi all, I am fresh out of bootcamp and just learned the MERN stack (JS, MongoDB, React, Nodejs). I expect a lot of rejections but also plan to reach out to people rather than blindly applying to things. I also want to practice algorithms and data structures, as I know that is the weakest point for bootcamp students. If there are companies that I should keep an eye on in SF bay area, please let me know. I personally wouldn’t want to work with JS my whole life, so if there is advice to transition in the future, I’d love to know about that! I know lam research labs requires a masters for smalltalk so that is a possibility in the far future. Probably will ask these questions for the Thursday meetup in SF.

hi! in my experience the best way to get out of a language you don’t like is to build a side project or contribute to open source in a language you do like (i know that can be hard)
as someone who’s hired for web dev roles before, i’d also advise you to check out a more traditional sql database system like postgres. if you need any help using other node adapters for that kind of stuff feel free to reach out!

thanks for the advice. I did do a small project with posgres and worked on some python. I will continue to practice as I go!
