It seems to be a fast way to compute the eigenvectors of a linear transformation matrix. Maybe somebody else could comment on the application of eigenvectors to computer graphics? I haven't needed it.

I think about the only thing you could do with it is compress some quaternions down, but maybe if the bus was your choke point, you could push “compressed” matrices / eigenvalues across it 🤷
