I'm looking for 256-color clipart, the kind that came on macintosh CDs. Like a ready-to-eat png archive (or online emulation) of such. Any archaeologists out there know where to look? Too lazy to spin up an emulator and download 50 disk images. Old websites might have this too

more specific: i have this mental image of musical instruments being represented as richly-detailed, renaissance-y, 256-color images, for some interactive educational application. like this

IA's CD-ROM images can be explored directly, although most older image formats can't be viewed in-browser and you'd still have to convert them, but at least you could only download a handful per CD? e.g. https://archive.org/details/ClipArtCollection -> https://ia803200.us.archive.org/view_archive.php?archive=/26/items/ClipArtCollection/ClipArtCollection.iso

Corel Wordperfect comes to mind. No idea where to find the clipart. Maybe ask Mark Sample https://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk/news/illustration/awful-clip-art-from-1994-is-being-tweeted-every-hour-by-bot/#6. (Remembering an epic middle-school presentation. Assignment: make slides explaining how to do some task. My partner and I, "How to Slay a Dragon.")

I just use google image search for this. Do a google search, click on images (at the top), then click on clipart (at the top). Like: https://www.google.com/search?q=violin&tbm=isch&hl=en&chips=q:violin,g_1:clipart:c9rCyIl8YGM%3D&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjvwfGHw4TsAhVLBs0KHWmID4UQ4lYoAHoECAEQFA&biw=1768&bih=878 Or take a photograph you found using google image search and convert it to 256 colour png.
