Should we enable chat in the call?
l
I think 'reactions' are enabled at the very least 🙂

Thanks for organizing the workshop! Very, very inspiring and cool to see Unit in action! 😎
@Samuel Timbó how long have you been working on Unit so far? Is it all custom code?
s
Thanks @Maikel! I’d say there’s at least 3 ~ 4 of work accumulated in Unit, with probably 90% custom code (written from scratch).
m
3 to 4 years fulltime?
s
I had to pause/slow down development a few times, but, right, when I think of total accumulated effort, my guess is 3 ~ 4 years. The actual conception of unit dates back 7 years ago. 👴
m
Very impressive! Do you use Unit yourself to build software for clients?
s
That is surely one of the goals! Unit is not production-ready yet, so I am not using it for work for now. I did built a couple unit websites for clients, but they were very small self-contained utilities (like a little form to make an HTTP request with a token).

Shoot, I forgot to put this on my calendar. Was it recorded?
i
Yep! The video will be posted in #linking-together later today.
I'll also share a link here in this thread.

Phenomenal. Just an enormous amount of work, so well done. Very original. And it feels like a language designed around how using it should feel, instead of imposing restrictions to avoid certain bad results, or adhering to some sort of theoretical purity or something. Very inspiring.

Sorry I missed the workshop due to a bad Internet connection. Will watch the video as soon as I get my router back in service.
