I got notification that this Slack approaches 10k messages and soon won't be able to search for older messages. @stevekrouse may I ask you to export messages? It must be somewhere in admin panel. https://get.slack.help/hc/en-us/articles/201658943-Export-your-workspace-data

We finally did it!
That's exciting
I plan on eventually parsing that and putting it somewhere on futureofcoding.org, such as /slack/something
This was the first I found https://levels.io/slack-export-to-html/
I'll get to it eventually, but would also welcome help in the meantime

Having our conversations public and indexed feels a little too exposed to me. If it’s not difficult or against others’ wishes, is there a way to host the complete logs under the same permissions model as the chat room itself?

Last time I checked, Slack exports were for the entire history and not for just the most 10k recent messages. Just FYI..

@alltom I was hoping to just make these convos public. As it currently stands, anyone can join so they in effect already are public. If you wanted to keep something private, it would be quite silly to post it in any public channel here. Of course private channels are private and will be kept that way. I don't even think I have access to any of that in the archive if that's what you were worried about. Do you worry that if the conversations are more exposed, people would be less willing to share openly?

Today, if you search Google for Steve Krouse, you won’t find anything you’ve said in here. A public archive changes that.
It’s not the worst thing to happen, just a slight preference.

Configuring robots.txt can provide "public but unlisted" archives.
