That looks cool, but I don't know whether it's actually useful.

Every time I need to reclaim disk space, I boot up GrandPerspective http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/. One question is whether the size of the circles matters for the activity that you're doing. Another is whether the relative location of the circles means anything. As primates, we're used to orientation mattering; so anything like, say, force directed layout is likely to be disorienting.

Yeah, my gut says that a randomly-generated icon that persisted forever would be better, at least for re-finding directories. Otherwise, adding a big file to a directory would make its icon look totally different. I would love it if the icons were still packed circles though, because that looks dope.
