Core is an interesting upcoming game building tool. This has the most information I've seen about what the actual creation tools might look like. I'd like to see the scripting capabilities. Although I'm guessing its similar to a slightly more generic version of Overwatch's Workshop scripting they haven't shown anything. This is funny to me because they made a lot of choices that were clearly stickier\more fun for users (pre-built game modes, heavy kitbashing), but aren't as "pure" for a technical\engineering standpoint

Hard to tell just from the screenshots, but it seems as though you're stuck with a very Fortnite/Apex/Overwatch-esq art style. I wonder if that ends up being a plus or a minus.

Even Dreams seems to be struggling a bit with that, in that it offers seemingly much broader art styles than typical mod tools / editors, but still much narrower styles than going all the way to something like Unity.

There are probably a handful of sweet spots along that spectrum. Would Minecraft have been a touch less viral if it didn't force all your creations to largely conform to its unique aesthetic? Probably.
Too bad Core doesn't have a unique aesthetic (yet).

yes they definitely have a Fortnite-ish aesthetic, or League or whatever, and it seems like they're optimizing for fast level design iteration and game rules rather than art

Makes sense given the history of it being a specific game with custom tools that they felt were good enough to productize
