most of this sounds pretty good, I do think unison is a language that is quite evolved in allowing exploration of the code as tables. They've not exposed that much but it could exist.

As Alan Kay says, the focus should be on understanding & designing the system. The author of this post seems to almost suggest / use that verbiage, which is nice to read!

He also describes something very similar to Smalltalk, which he doesn't seem to be aware of.

kinda sounds like he's talking about my project hofstadter.io
It feels like there's an unexplored dimension of abstraction here
but also points out a lot of the complications that are to come

I found the article disappointing tbh, and the Hacker News comments were even worse. Nobody seems to be talking about the biggest opportunity for improvement: finding a completely new programming paradigm that removes a lot of the "accidental complexity" in everyday programming. That's the best opportunity we have to remove all of the "boilerplate" and "glue code" the author is referring to. That's what I believe the Future of Coding to be, that's what I've been working on for the last 3 years, and that's what I think everyone else should be working on too.

@Nick Smith Where can I go to learn more about what you’ve been working on?

Unfortunately I haven't published anything yet! I hope to start doing that sometime in the next 6-12 months.
