This was kind of interesting to see in the sense how they bootstrapped their own community and relations and interactions. But ... he gave the talk at stripe, probably to motivate some funding? In some sense he tells the story of how the technology from xerox parc generated lots of opportunities, but only because it was not correctly understood. Because then the children would not be consumer of apps today but something different (prosumers?) So in some sense he tries to appeal to the social contract between deep tech research that can create new cultures. But on the other hand he hopes that this time his tech doesn't go the same way? The very unpleasant feeling that comes out of my gut with this feels related to is context . Yes there is great potential for more humane interaction between people using dynamicland influenced technology. But can it also just be used as a tool to be more efficient for people? Efficiency is a tricky ( see for example Jeremy Rifkin - the age of resilience: taylorism and the law of theormodynamics /*the gospel of efficency/misreading how the world works*) thing and needs at leas embedding into wisdom. If Bret was so inspired by Alan Kay , does he shares AKs renewed interest in wisdom ( see here:

"*wisdom requires a lot more context than tool making" "*"if wisdom means partly more awareness and larger of larger situations and consequences then this is one of the great Destinies for computing" if that means we should look more outside how can we maintain a better balance between looking OUTSIDE ourselves for solutions vs looking INSIDE ourselves?)
