This essay does a solid job summarizing the classic skepticism against "improving programming". Found it via @pbiggar https://architectofworlds.com/blog/why-codeless-software-doomed-fail/

Of course, I disagree with most of this perspective. It's just interesting to keep in mind where most engineers are coming from

Perhaps a developer brings something to the table distinct from coding. Just like a good graphic designer does much more than pick color schemes and animate icons.

Oh 100% agreed. Until strong AI, it will always be a needed skill, like writing is a needed skill

I’m not unconvinced with his essay. That’s also why Lamdu is code.

It makes a lot of points I agree with. I'm no fan of the low-code industry as it currently is

yeah I feel like this is a solid argument against no-code tools but also a solid argument for tools that don't take an incremental approach and instead aim to deliver programming-level power from the get-go

I don't like how the author sets of a false choice. I don't think it has to be an either/or proposition. I use a low-code platform as my daily driver. I need to get outside of it and write code but my "scripting languages" are SQL and Javascript, so pretty universal and easy to find other programmers. I also could, almost as easily, forsake the choice of javascript and SQL and write web services using whatever I want to.
