Has anyone played Dreams? Seems interesting to view as a commercial end-user programming system.

Dreams is the current high water mark for 3D user generated content. It allows people to share art assets, which is the major impediment to user-generated 3D games. Typically the programmers are way outnumbered on AAA projects by staffing for art and music, and so this Dreams system (from Media Molecule in UK) is an amazing system. Roblox is a joke compared to this, and I can't imagine why Roblox has a valuation of 4 billion when Dreams is so far beyond it.

Dreams is PS4 only, Roblox is on PC/Mac/iOS/Android. Dreams requires a high end GPU. Roblox does not. Dreams doesn't provide a marketplace. Roblox does giving people a strong insentive to try to make money (similar to youtube). Also on the minus side, AFAIK Dreams has a pretty poor programming experience. No idea what Roblox is like but attaching wires to 3D objects is arguably not a good way to program. People do it in the same way they make giant rube goldberg machines in Minecraft to code

It will be interesting to see which one of these game/metaverse/programming platform thingies ends up in the lime light. If it's anything like every other platform, it won't be the objectively best one for some reasonable definition of "best."
