End-user programming is a red herring: We need to focus on materiality, what some disparage as mere "side effects." The goal is to enable others to feel the agency and power that comes when the world ceases to be immutable.

I highly recommend reading (or listening to) World Beyond Your Head by Matt Crawford (of Shop Class / Soulcraft fame). He has a few good section on jigs of all types, including cultural jigs. But it gave me a new perspective on how to think about jigs, and how I invisibly use them in my personal life (everything from moving boxes to cooking!) https://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/may/04/the-world-beyond-your-head-review-demands-attention
