That seems like a really cool UX! It would probably make it faster. Makes me think about other design affordances from mind map tools, like pressing tab to auto create a new connected node that’s laid out well

Yeah, in the past I used MindManager which has a good keyboard-ux as far as I can remember. But keyboard support currently does not have a high priority for me, touchscreen support is higher on my todo list actually. My available development time is limiting me unfortunately, so ux has a less priority then other things anyway. Although I try to do quick wins with regards to ui/ux.

Nice. One other quality of life feature to consider — Max/MSP will let you drop a node onto an existing wire, which splits the wire and hooks up to the new node's input and output ports.

Yes, that one is certainly on my wish list to implement.
