Is this post in #CC2JRGVLK too spammy. It's entirely non-technical, and it's promoting startup-like stuff rather than anything directly about the future of programming. If it were up to me, I'd remove it as off-topic. Thoughts?
(I did already remove the attachment, since it was basically a billboard ad.)

I agree it felt out of place for the board, although without the attachment it is very similar to the post above. Maybe add some guidance that #CC2JRGVLK should be a pure bio/about me, and it should link to project specific post on another board.

The link points to their Product Hunt page and they launch today. Plus the message ends with "Would love to get your feedback!" which sounds like an invite to action to increase their Product Hunt visibility. So for me it is clearly of topic. But maybe this kind of information might be of interest for people here seeking for mentoring in creating their Futur of Coding Startup?

I found it relevant. I would want folks investing in dev tool startups to feel welcome introducing themselves, including providing a company link. But I also support guidance not to include attachments or calls to action.

Maybe a "promotions" channels would be more suited. It is still relevant to the community, IMHO

yeah many of the Slack groups Iโ€™m in have a shameless plug channel for just this type of stuff!

Probably too spammy. Removing the attachment was a good idea as it demoted the content from "kill with fire" to kinda-spammy-better-left-alone in my book. One expects #CC2JRGVLK to not always be on topic as important to share parts of "yourself" are likely to be off the FoC topic. We're each more than our FoC interests and non-FoC parts help enrich us. I'm not sure if a shameless plug channel is appropriate on this forum as any on-topic plug would be welcome in #CCL5VVBAN. And if it's not appropriate there, it probably doesn't belong on FoC. Contrast, say, Slack groups of geographic+topic interest, which can benefit from a shameless plug channel. (Not that geography means as much these days. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ)

For reference, here's the channel description for #CC2JRGVLK in our Member Handbook (which is linked right next to all links that point to the Slack, AND appears in a welcome message when you first join):
#CC2JRGVLK
When you first join the community, please make a post here. You can tell us about your background, what your interests are, how you got into computer futurism, how you found the Slack, interesting hobbies โ€” anything thatโ€™ll help us know where youโ€™re coming from. Feel free to share past project URLs, and tag other members you know.
Please, no links to startups or companies, unless you provide something deeply technical, philosophical, or otherwise interesting for us to talk about.

I've decided to remove the post. There was no indication that this person had any interest in participating in our community. The only thing they shared was a call for our attention. That's no good. Thanks for helping me reason through this, folks. <3

I agree, that wasnโ€™t an introduction to a person, that was an introduction to a business

Just saw this. Yeah I'd say too spammy.

Just saw this. Had no idea what language it was in even though it looked like English ๐Ÿ˜„

It's a good question, though, at what point the interface between the conversations here and exploitation in startups could occur. Many here have startups or want to have at some point.
Could have a
commercialisation
channel. But it would be pretty quiet
