Hey all! I couldn’t find the answer in the docs, so What is the process to create channels? I would like to have two new channels #of-explicit-state and #of-markup-languages . Are the names any good and understandable and in line with FoC naming tradition? The purpose I have in mind is to have a place for detailed and concrete discussions on the mentioned topics e.g. among those especially interested; e.g. people exploring/defining/implementing new variations on state machine formalisms, mark-up languages etc; Thus topics to detailed to be of general interest for e.g. #C5T9GPWFL Maybe this need is already covered in an existing channel?

A personal observation: the experience with new, specific channels is that they go quiet after some initial activity. You also loose the exposure to random people not subscribed to your channel. I would recommend to use the existing channels to get more wide conversations and visibility.

Yeah, that makes sense, and I trust your experience! Even so, I’m shy about posting stuff that might feel irrelevant and too detailed to many members and it would have felt safer to post in a ‘quiet’ channel that is dedicated to the stuff.

state machines are really relevant, most of markup is also relevant, if it feels too "common" post it on #C01932BJGE8

We don't create new channels until existing channels are being overwhelmed with discussion of a specific topic. So until then, #C5T9GPWFL is a great home for these topics.

Well, got myself a battle plan for new channel: Overwhelm #C5T9GPWFL with state machines, statecharts and arbitrary brain-wrecking generalizations thereof all with accompanying eyesores of markup langs, yeah 😄 But in all seriousness, a reactive strategy sounds super reasonable 🙂 Thank you, admins [@Ivan Reese @Mariano Guerra] for swift and clear response!

I love theme specific channels, as it allows me to focus the specific topics of interest more closely/precisely 🙂 thanks for a reminder that I should join some more!
