Hi all, I’m with RelationalAI and formerly with LogicBlox. I/we are interested in all things declarative/relational/model-based. I hope to be able to connect with like minded folks who share our interests.

Welcome Molham, How does RelationalAI compare to something like Protege, or are they at all related?

Hi! RelationalAI sounds very interesting. Are there any deeper descriptions or demos of your products?

I'm definitely interested in your thoughts on "the future of relational programming". Hit me up if you want to exchange views!

@Kevin Greer RelationalAI is building a relational knowledge graph management system where the models defined in tools like Protege (or more esoterically tools for conceptual modeling, e.g. Object Role Models) executable, i.e. the model is the program.
@Florian Cäsar we’re still getting our act together in this regard. I gave this talk at Berkeley that you might find helpful (

).
@Nick Smith happy to chat. I’m on Pacific Time. Later afternoons are easier for me. What dates/times work for you?
f
Would be happy to chat as well, this sounds like something I would love to have. I'm on CET, so 9? hours ahead. I could do rather late "afternoon" around 9pm your time (6am for me) or early afternoon like 1pm (10pm for me). How about Wednesday or Friday next week?
m
Wednesday at 1pm or 9pm PDT work well for me. I’ll direct message you so we can work out details.

Hi Molham, I watched your talk and found it fascinating. Are the slides available anywhere? I'm interested in followup up on the references you provide in the last few slides. I really like how you can implement various knowledge representations approaches with a simple common underlying model. Actually, I just found: https://www.relational.ai/research which probably has links to what I'm looking for.

How does retionalAI's apporach to knowledge graphs compare to Grakn? Also, are there ways in relationAI to make public knowledge graphs built for interoperability? It seems to me that rAI is mostly for use within a single institution. I spoke with Barry Smith a while back about his work developing an ISO standard for top-level ontologies—ISO/IEC 21838. He has some great points about what makes a shared ontology grow and survive (eg, the gene ontology).

@Kevin Greer I’m glad you found the talk useful. Let me know if you want color on any of the papers…
@Braden Eliason I feel like we’re separated at birth from Grakn 🙂. We seen to be philosophically very similar but have taken different approaches with our architecture and systems engineering. It would be great to connect with someone from Grakn to compare notes as our interests are very aligned with theirs: we both believe in the value of Knowledge Graphs. I’ve watched a few of Barry Smith’s talks but I don’t remember anything about an ISO standard. Do you have any links you can sent me?
b
Here's a link to one of Barry's talks on the ISO 21838:

. The standard is still under development but should be out soon. Grakn Orbit is coming up in 11 days at that'a a good chance for you to connect with the Grakn team. I don't use Grakn, but I'm keeping a close eye on it's development. I'll probably watch a selection of the talks at Orbit. https://community.grakn.ai/grakn-orbit-2021.

thanks @Braden Eliason
