Hey, I have used a language a while ago (many years to be precise) called Dark Basic. It was useful to experiment with my first game programming but then I moved to C++. Have anyone used it ever? What did you think of it?
p
No, but love the name!

🙂 They seem to open sourced a lot of it - https://www.thegamecreators.com/product/dark-basic-pro-open-source

omg! I remember that!
Back then I just learned QBasic and wanted to make a game, but tbh it didn’t seem “powerful” (I was an idiot), so I ended up doing C++/OpenGL/GLUT combo. But DB is so simple and effective now that I look at it, not surprised it’s still alive. The syntax is amazingly readable for what it offers

That I completely agree with you. I remember how easy it was when I was doing it using DB. I am really happy to see that they are still alive and releasing new things.

I hope some new kids get to use it and it inspires them like it did me, but I kinda figure kids nowadays are born as Unity expert game devs 😂

Well said @Ian Rumac 😄

I learned to program in DB (the original interpreted version). It used to feature every so often on the PC Gamer cover disc
