Happy New Year! @Ivan Reese my wife is fluent in Japanese (she's 1/2 and her work focuses on Japan/US relations). What do you need read?

Oh, there's an obscure Japanese film I'm trying to track down. A few years ago I lent it to a friend, they lost it, and I've been unable to find a copy for sale (or otherwise, /cough/) anywhere. I've tried emailing the international distributor (no response), scouring various japanese retail sites via Google Translate (no luck). My next hope is to find someone more familiar with Japanese to see (A) if they know of where to look for such a thing or (B) if they're able to find any leads. For the better part of a year, I watched this film once a day. It's the sort of thing that I imagine will eventually (if not already) be out of print, and will never be re-released, and will be relegated to the dustbin of history, which is profoundly sad as it's quite an unusual and interesting film.
