Another HN discussion about Dynamicland, with a few familiar usernames. Lots of interesting references to prior work, and general thinking about how to do ambitious R&D in the modern era. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26725370

I'll second @Jack Rusher's "dirt off your shoulder" sentiments. But I'll add that I don't especially begrudge people who "dump on Dynamicland without going there", since 99.9% of people can't go there, and Dynamicland certainly hasn't prioritized thorough public documentation. (I think some criticism of that is valid!) Thankfully, the goal of the research isn't to have people say nice things about it in Hacker News. 😀

"Going there" seems so 2019! I always describe Dynamicland as trying to escape the gravitational pull of some of our established ways of collaborating. In as much as they don't have an answer to reasonable, real-world questions, it's because they're searching for a new world, and they haven't arrived. It's easy to assume that they want to sell us on a new, better world when, in fact, they are still flying through outer-space.
