Hello Foc! Its been a while. Does already a mechanism exist to check if a link was already used ? @Tom Larkworthy is there already a Slack to Atproto/Roomy bridge that would be so nice. In any case erlend from roomy shared today this nice little piece from 2009 and I would like to share it: blog.codinghorror.com/the-xanadu-dream

There are tools on the website which links to a search tool for the archives. feelingof.com/community Roomy doesn't store its messages on atproto so a bridge cannot be made when I checked last.

Tom did get us set up with colibri.social which is ATproto, though I haven't looked at it in a couple of weeks and now I see the FoC forum there needs to be updated. Also unclear what features it will evolve over time, and how good the search is/will be. I did a
grep
on my archives at akkartik.name/archives/foc (there's a download link at the bottom) and no this particular link has never been shared. Xanadu of course has indeed been discussed. The way I tend to think about these two tools is akin to the historical trade-off between barbarian and sedentary cultures: β€’ My archives: doesn't try to play well with others, so it's simpler. If something breaks you can fix it yourself. The barbarian way. β€’ Colibri: embedded in a tighter web of relationships, at the cost of complexity. If something breaks you have to figure out whom to talk to and how to persuade them to do some work to fix it. The sedentary-culture way.

Did Erlend share the link in the main roomy.space space? Does Roomy have hyperlinks so you can share his utterance? It doesn't seem to have search yet.

OK I migrated the Colibri room, lets see what breaks

well it now says I am not a member of the community so god knows

ok it it needed to catch up or something, still working! atproto.at/uri/at:/…/3msvikwmplz22. <-- you can't do that will Roomy AFAIKT
This is cool. I can use general atproto search engine "constellation" to search for that link, and look at the hits! constellation.microcosm.blue/links/all?target=https%3A//blog.codin…

yes we also said so in discord
k
Is there a way to go from the API level in the above search link back into the product level so I can see the link in the context of its space/channel/etc.?
t
With some clicking you get to to the record that holds that URL, the clue is the lexicon name
<https://pdsls.dev/at://did:plc:4gcxakknd6hxtnhf33miwsob/social.colibri.message|social.colibri.message>
, which might be googleable or might be on the under a well known path (I forget what) which is recommended. for some reason I can't "browse record" directly, but using another tool using the address found in constellation I can view it: atproto-browser.dev/at/…/social.colibri.message/3msvhcdgqgd22 we can only surf data records though, at the data level there is no "application". Only schema names that after map to an application that created them but they are not "owned" really. So you have to slueth based on the schema name.

I thought Xanadu was an inside joke in Kentucky Route Zero
