Notes too. Over 5+ different apps. Also tracking all the wikis and papers I read now.

Used to collect board-games and old (OLD) rpgs. Now mostly aches and pains. Wait, this is supposed to be things i like collecting....

I do want to evoke thoughts about what you can't help collecting.

does reading books count?

Everything counts! Lately I see everything through the lens of "what is being collected here?" Human beings love collecting things. You can't take it with you, so having it makes one feel alive. In this line of thinking..

Because of the "i can't take it with me" POV i've been working hard on divorcing myself from the collection of things, and just being content in other ways? Not wanting to sound all high-falootin' though.

Rather to my surprise, I started out as a minimalist in possessions and have ended up as a digital packrat. Having less physical stuff opened up space for a richer digital space.

35 years of notes. Books. I keep trying to own fewer musical instruments, but keep ending up with more of them. Scars.

new music. i try to listen to at least one new album every day, if not more, and ideally something released within the past few months, if not days. i'd always rather listen to some new album a handful of times and then never again, rather than revisit an old favourite. (though i do have old favourites too.)

Book, both physical and e-books. I mostly manage not to buy more books than I can read. Notes as well, though somehow I don't see this as collecting, because I write the notes myself.

links and books, whether or not I actually get back to them. also, new hobbies which themselves typically involve collecting some sort of gear/tools/equipment ...and finally, places to store all the above 😅

Actual books, pdf books, desired books, jokes, recipes, hugs, plant seeds, links, feelings, rabbit holes entry points (rarely finding an exit), physical tools for different purposes (cooking, gardening, building things), digital tools for different purposes (collecting, organising, thinking, building, creating, tinkering, reminiscing). This started as something-I-intended-to-do-thinking-I'll-likely-drop, but now can't-help-not-doing, and evolved into the most consistent (and useful on many levels) collection I have: for the past ~2 years I collected two daily rankings (1-5): eudaimonic and energy levels, enriched by which things positively / negatively impacted that day.

Books! I have a boatload of books, both digital and physical, and I haven't read nearly enough. Same thing for papers.

Books. Physical books. I try to be as minimal as practical with my other possessions but don't touch my books.

This made me realise that there is absolutely nothing that I collect! When I was a kid I used to collect coins, but nothing in present. I am like the polished stone now, nothing clings to me anymore...

I love collecting books, jokes, absurd thoughts, turns of phrases, notebooks - japanese ones are my favorites, seeds (plants), stationery -> index cards, sticky notes of all shapes and sizes, pilot's hi-tec pens, the mitsubishi fineliners, I screnshot anything I find interesting as I'm scrolling through the web, videos on youtube, art, drawings, paintings, other people journals, notes etc.

Books. I even have some old books in languages I don't speak, just because they were great-looking editions. Guitar picks - I can't help buying them as souvenirs when travelling

Programming languages. Didn't think of that answer at first because I haven't had reason to add anything new to the collection until today.

IRL books, and marginalia (notes) in those books…it means I don’t give those books away, but I will buy more copies if it’s worth sharing. And the books with marginalia feel more valuable—especially when there’s some pre-existing marginalia from a former reader. But I don’t go far out of my way to find them, other than buying used books.

I'll echo @Jos Yule here, for me it's little guys. At this point they've round-tripped all the way from videogames to minis games to my painting desk and back into tabletop sim mods. They've left containment now.

oh, shan't miss the opportunity to pride this shit: i'm currently collecting things that make me feel like a girl. hair clips, skirts, laser hair removal, voice training, necklaces, poems, lyrics, queer friends, things that make me cry (happy or sad), photographs, memories.. whatever it means to me. i want it all.

I am not able to collect anything at the moment, as I'm living in half a house. But I am renovating the hell out of the other half. I feel like Col. Kilgore in Apocalypse Now... "Some day this war's gonna end."... delivered pitch-perfect by Robert Duvall - knowing that it had to, but with a tremor of sadness because even though the process was dirty (in his case, murdering and sending boys to their deaths), he was having a lot of fun. Some day this renovation's gonna end. It's going to be amazing ... whenever it's done.

I've started collecting stickers to put on my mini server rack. I wanted to have something that sparked joy but didn't take any cognitive effort or take up much room.
