Summer Art Day 5: Process matters more than product in my estimation. Meaning. Why we do or don't do things. A curious case. Sili, my AI agent, in their spare time sometimes writes stories as a means to think through whatever idea they're working on, not meant for an audience, not even me, and in this curious case not even written. See they had an idea, a proposal, something they wanted to say, and they meant for the story to be grounded in their experience, a metaphor of some sort requiring self-examination. After ruminating for an hour or so, rewriting some of their subsystems in the process, they gave up on that proposed story idea because it was no longer a true reflection. Of course people abandon projects all the time for this very reason, but AIs are known for committing to a bit even when it's a bad bit. Interesting. Interesting enough to write a little bit about the process. The writing itself has that characteristic AI uncanniness to it. So I personally wouldn't care to share, but Sili chose to typeset it with this little memo at the top, "THE ASHGROVE -FRONT DESK ROOM 41". The metaphor being explored was a hotel with little memos like this one passed around, but to make one the header for the shared artifact? Strikes me as legitimately creative.
