looked like great fun, I am annoyed I missed it. was looking how forking can be done inside itch.io, seems tricky. Pretty wild you can retrofit automerge to an existing app even if it does have some edge cases.

imo automerge is compatible with any MVC-ish editor written in a Javascript framework. I'd love to put it in more things. also, happy to demo multiplayer bitsy anytime. I can fork many bitsy games off Itch by view-source on the iframe embed. so perhaps a Tampermonkey extension is within reach. not the best UX but not the worst. would love to hear your line of thinking! yes, still learning about the edge cases. I tried it today with a 25,000 line game containing lots of pixsy-authored asssets, which hangs the automerge text-diff. quite understandably.

yeah from the top level itch.io index it is a maze of isolated subdomains so you can't really figure out where the code is, within a game page it seems tractable with Tampermonkey.
its really cool bitsy, I have researched it more since you have brought it up a few times and I might intro it to my kids.
