Hmm realy really interesting he basically is pointing to larger issues of "sustainability" of this whole thing one might call programming (industrial?) culture. People need to care about things in a specific manner to sustain such a thing. In some sense its a cultural thing. The Hyper Individualism of consumerism plays also a role here. Not sure yet what it means but it comes with big implications, very good observations of the zeitgeist.

To be able to see such things you would probably need experience from before the epoch. Its this kind of intergenerational knowledge ( and the respect, humility and friendship) that we need if we want to sustain culture.

There is a chapter about how when you do things “wrong” in the tribe there will e consequences but there is also the option to become a “normal” member of the tribe again.

Social Media has utterly failed at tying to create patterns that work in similar ways (mostly because of scaling) . But for example when you are blocked 🚫 by someone on x , that's it , end of communication. You would need “out of band” communication to resolve misunderstandings or other issues.

So yes “situationship type thing” is a thing, is a thing….
