Thanks for sharing @Kartik Agaram 🙂 If anyone's curious, happy to chat through the process or like where this all came from. I've been spending a lot of time thinking about what kind of new roles might pop up if things keep progressing the way they have been. This series came about as I had started asking Claude to write some Sci Fi about a particular role we came up with in a chat and some of it ended up really good, so I decided I'd try to see how far I could push it and polish it up enough to feel good about publishing.

I think one unrealistic thing here is when he already understands what Carol wants. At least in my urban milieu I find nobody cares enough about anyone else's inner life to that extent. Mostly we dodder along. But yeah, reasonable fiction to introduce to increase contrast.

Huh interesting, yeah I can remember that feeling when I lived in New York. Maybe I've spent too long in the suburbs these last few years that I've gotten softer haha...when I moved out here I remember a bunch of the service people I worked with made comments about understanding me being a bit more high strung being a new homeowner and doing a little bit extra because of it

Less in the sense they cared about my inner life, but more that they'd worked with a ton of first timers before and knew the drill

But like how would he know the exact 4 things Carol has learned over 30 years.

Ohh haha that...I thought you were referencing the switch part

Living in a small city in a very heavily agricultural area, and having grown up in a small town — the small town, small-time farming, and serving people one knows personally in your story really resonated. Even here, though, small family farms aren't the norm anymore, I'm afraid. In fact, if LLMs somehow could help us regain the "smallness" of technology rather than the big-tech we have today, I'd be a pretty big fan. Not sure I can share your optimism in good conscience, but I'm sure willing to strive for it!

Working on it @David Alan Hjelle. I've taken up the saying, "If you can't dream it, you can't be it." We need dreams of small tech, and I think LLMs can help.

@wtaysom If you have a link about some of your ideas, I'd love to see it! Otherwise, I'll try observe your comments around here. 😄 (Don't mean to derail the discussion of the story…)

@David Alan Hjelle I finally have that link https://wtaysom.github.io/imitation-engines/. The main discussion will happen on #C050QK4917D, I guess. For you specifically, and on topic here, this part is about big dreams https://wtaysom.github.io/imitation-engines/dream-beyond-vision and the questions from here to the end of the section https://wtaysom.github.io/imitation-engines/answers#politics.

@wtaysom Thanks! I was your other messages, and have already started reading! Thank you!
