Let's get the ball rolling on the next Virtual Meetup — our first since September!! The date will be December 31st at the usual time (18:00 UTC). For what I believe is the first time since we started doing these, I have something I made that I'd like to share! Who else?

Hi Ivan! Great to hear! What time would it be? I went back in the channel and I can't find the usual time, apologies.

Let's make it midnight, eh? 🤣

Do we have anyone in UTC+6 with who we could celebrate the New Year?

I'd love to do a clickthrough of Dendryscope, which I'm sprucing up for a proper tool release. I last posted about it, uh, two years ago probably? It's meant for narrative designers to playtest their games with an intelligent interface, and happens to be a fun use case for answer set programming via clingo in the browser.

We've got two people signed up to demo at our meetup on the 31st. Ideally we'll have one more. Any takers?

I'm happy to demo (and try to motivate) some self-modifying code ideas I've been playing with: https://model-view-self-modify.netlify.app/README (which needs a rewrite per some feedback I got)

Awesome!

https://everytimezone.com/s/568737c9 link had misleading popup telling me "January 1 20:00" despite pretty clearly showing Dec 31 20:00 (I'm UTC+2) on the timeline. I do love their Hipmunk-style timeline 😞, but this is exactly the kind of confusion unwanted when sharing event time 🤦‍♂️ Closest alternatives I found is https://world-time-sync.com/?ts=1767204000000 or https://zoneing.biterdevs.com/planner?time=2025-12-31T18%3A00%3A00.000Z&format=24h (click your country).
[this annoyed me enough to fork an xkcd.com/now derivative, but that's a dead end (1) I learnt Randall'd cleverly shifted labels (and maybe distorted the map?) to embody DST rules💡 as of Feb 2014 but it's not getting maintained, (2) the circular form is bad fit for representing day boundaries. Perhaps what I'd really want is horizontally repeating(??) https://m.worldtimezone.com/m-interactive-time-map.php?select=0&calldate=12-31-2025&hournr=18&minnr=00&forma=24h, linked to a horizontal date&time line? Well never mind.]

Oh yeah, that popup was way wrong for me too. Weird.

I'd love to demo but my stuff is not ready yet. Next one, hopefully!

@Beni Cherniavsky-Paskin https://akkartik.name/tz.html. I scroll to the timezone and click on the hour.

@Kartik Agaram that's actually pretty nice. Make me realize that it's silly that we're using some 3rd party ad-ridden thing for this, when we could just roll our own in an hour.
