When I, or others, say they want to reinvent “programming,” a next thought is: how much of programming? The diversity of computational tasks is rather large. I’ve attempted to build my own diagram of the centers where human motivations and technical concerns tend to simultaneously cluster. (The central “computer” is not a cluster, but a representation of the ubiquitous cross-cutting tooling). If anyone has any knowledge of pre-existing “taxonomies” of computer science, or any thoughts on the diagram, I’d be happy to hear it.
