Enjoyed listening to this over the past 9 days! Lovely discussion and I think @Ivan Reese nailed it with the critique of 'general purpose programming' at the end. Just wanted to flag that I think the dynamicland take on why smalltalk didn't take off isn't due to technical deficiencies but due to extrinsic factors, i.e. that it was "embraced, extended and extinguished" by the software industry which isn't actually motivated to empower people. I think they see their set-up as a non-profit independent research organisation as a key part of the response to that.
